What We’ve Been Up To
Outside of our client work, we collectively participate in several events throughout the year including an annual beach day, community service events, and more! Check out some of our recent events below. We also contribute internally to a number of industry-focused publications.
AIDS Walk LA (October 2016)
We had a team of 25 walkers participate in the annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles in October. This event is a 10 kilometer walk through downtown LA that fundraises for APLA Health, an organization that provides prevention, care, and advocacy programs to those affected by HIV or AIDS. We reached our goals for team size and donation amount which meant we enjoyed a company sponsored coffee and donut breakfast to fuel us for the walk.
Beach Day (October 2016)
We head to the beach each fall following our Dream It, Do It idea fair to enjoy some beach volleyball, fresh lobster, and the California sun. This year we spent the warm October day at Paradise Cove in Malibu.
D!D! L!VE! (October 2016)
Our third annual DIDI (Dream It, Do It) idea fair was held at the Skirball Cultural Center. This event brings the whole firm together to develop and present fresh ideas on new ways of thinking and approaches to the work we do. This year, the event was L!VE, which meant that there was no prep work done ahead of time. To kick things off, we welcomed a guest speaker, Beatrice Springborn, the head of original programming at Hulu, to help us get our creative juices flowing. The rest of the day was spent collaborating in teams of four to six and developing our proposals, which were then presented to the broader group and a panel of judges for voting and exciting prizes.
Star Trek (July 2016)
In May, we participated in a fundraising event to create a new planetarium show at the Griffith Observatory, a popular LA attraction that offers spectacular views of the city and has a wide range of educational space and science-related displays. As part of the event, we attended a movie screening of Star Trek Beyond at the Paramount Pictures lot. The event was a tribute to Leonard Nimoy, “Mr. Spock,” who was a big supporter of the Griffith Observatory. Prior to the screening, we had a group dinner at the iconic Lucy’s El Adobe across the street from the studios.
Tree People (May 2016)
For our spring firm event, we partnered with TreePeople, a Los Angeles-based environmental non-profit organization, to care for and help rehabilitate trees at a local park. We worked in teams to help care for over 70 trees at the Cesar Chavez Recreational Complex (Sheldon Arleta Park) in Sun Valley.
