Comparing the Top Boss’s Pay To Yours: Roger Brossy is Interviewed by NPR on the CEO Pay Ratio Rule

The SEC rule requiring that companies disclose their CEO-to-median worker pay ratio could have unintended consequences, warn compensation consultants. For example, although the ratio has been supported by labor unions, Semler Brossy’s Roger Brossy suggests that companies may move more jobs overseas in an attempt to match lower labor costs of competitors if the median pay statistics suggest they have a relatively expensive labor force. Additionally, Deborah Lifshey of Pearl Meyer notes that some companies are concerned about how their workers will react when they learn the median pay at their company and at competing companies. The rule, mandated by the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, will require disclosure starting in 2018. Read more

Todd Sirras Featured in New York Post on CEO Salaries

New York Post reported via Reuters today that Chipotle’s CEO makes 1000 times the salary of average worker. It cited new research from job-hunting website Glassdoor.com, which provides an early glimpse of data that publicly traded companies will be required by the Securities and Exchange Commission to report starting in 2017. Glassdoor’s findings were in line with other studies, said Todd Sirras, managing director of compensation consulting firm Semler Brossy. Read more
