The failure rate thus far in 2021 is 3.5x the rate at this time last year, and average vote support is 200 basis points lower than at this time last year. That said, it is still early in the season and we will continue to monitor whether this trend continues, as well as explore in upcoming reports the impact of programmatic changes made in 2020 due to Covid-19. Additionally, there have been 146 Russell 3000 companies with Say on Pay results, and seven of those companies have received less than 50% vote support. This report also tracks Director Election and Equity Proposal vote results.
